Family & Community Engagement

Be a Voice for Your Child and Community!
Welcome to the Family & Community Engagement hub! Strong schools are built on strong partnerships with families and the community. Your voice matters in shaping our schools and creating the best learning environment for our students.

We invite you to participate in our school planning committees, where your insights and experiences can make a real difference. Whether you're passionate about student achievement, school safety, or cultural celebrations, there's a place for you at the table.

Parent Teacher Club
The Bell Avenue PTO is made up of parents and teachers working together to plan events and activities for our school families to enjoy and to raise money for school supplies, field trips, and play equipment. When you choose to be part of the PTO, you have an active voice in the projects that PTO plans and carries out. The PTO typically meets once a month, please see below for future meeting dates. Attendance to these meetings is not mandatory but encouraged.

English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)
The English Learner Advisory Committee offers a platform for families of English Learners to collaborate in providing exceptional instructional support for all students. To achieve this, ELAC creates opportunities for parents of English Learners to:
  • Learn more about programs offered to their students
  • Advise the school administration and staff on effective strategies to enhance the learning of English Learners.
  • Advise the school administration and staff on the development of the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).
  • Review the Language Census each spring
  • Send information to D.E.L.A.C. (District English Learner Advisory Committee)

School Site Council (SSC)
The School Site Council (SSC) determines academic instructional programs and related categorical resource expenditures. All schools that receive federal or state categorical funding must have a School Site Council. The School Site Council assists with the following tasks:
  • Establishes and evaluates schoolwide goals aimed at enhancing student achievement.
  • Develop the Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy along with the School-Parent Compact.
  • Manages the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) and its associated budget.
  • Collaborates with various councils and advisory groups.
