Black History Essay Competition 2024 - Calling All 3rd-6th Graders!

Robla families, get ready for an exciting opportunity as part of our Black History Month activities! The Robla School District, in collaboration with the Roberts Family Development Center, invites 3rd-6th grade students to participate in the 2024 Black History Essay Competition.

Theme: "Searching for Heroes Not Always Seen - Who Inspires you?"

Essay Guidelines:

  • Choose a person, even a family member, who inspires you.
  • Conduct real research, including an interview with the chosen person.
  • Write an essay (250-350 words) explaining why this person is your hero and how they inspire you.

Who Can Enter:

  • If you're a 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th grade student in the Robla School District, this contest is for you!

Submission Details:

  • Deadline: Essays are due on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Please submit to your teacher.
  • Include on Each Entry:
    • Student's first and last names
    • Teacher's name
    • School site
    • Grade level
  • On the Back of Each Page:
    • Ensure the information mentioned above is on every page.
  • Additional Requirements: Original work, free of spelling and grammar errors.

Prizes*:

  • 1st Place: $100
  • 2nd Place: $50
  • 3rd Place: $25
* Important Note: Each grade level will be awarded three prizes.
