Second Grade

2nd Grade Artists learned about the Artist Rafael Lopez and his amazing murals, books and works for Art. Students read the book titled "Maybe Something Beautiful" and created their artwork inspired by Rafael Lopez's illustrations.

Art and Science! Students learned about how and why leaves change color in the fall. Students used cool colors to create the background in watercolor, exploring salt techniques. Students used warm colors to create their leaves on color diffusing paper and collaged their leaves onto the the background. This is a favorite and annual project in 2nd grade and this year's 2nd grades did an excellent job!
More Trees! Evergreen Trees: Students are working with Oil Pastels to create texture of pine needles, layering colors to create depth and working with metallic watercolor to create glass like ornaments. Another 2nd Grade favorite during the Holidays.
